‘There’ is no better than ‘Here’

When your ‘there’ has become ‘here’, you will simply obtain another ‘there’ that will again look better than ‘here’.

If there’s one thing we humans are good at, it’s wanting things. We crave to be smarter, more attractive, and wealthier. We want to buy all the things and travel to all the places, and it’s no surprise that our wanting never stops.

Yet over the last few years, we’ve learned having, doing, or seeing more, doesn’t actually mean we’ll be happier. It’s about being happy with what you have and allowing anything else to be a bonus.

Creating a better future

“People are always shouting they want to create a better future. It’s not true. The future is an apathetic void of no interest to anyone. The past is full of life, eager to irritate us, provoke and insult us, tempt us to destroy or repaint it. The only reason people want to be masters of the future is to change the past.”

― Milan Kundera, Czech novelist.

History, to be sure, is not a simple tabulation of events and the past will always have its mysteries to carefully explore and examine.
